In Shakesville PA. a small group of volunteers, called the flight 93 Ambassadors have een looking after the site of the crash which occurred when terrorist took over the flight trying to reroute it back to Washington D.C.
Since early 2002, when a small group of friends and neighbors gathered after church Sunday and decided they would look after the people who came to the crash site on the outskirts of their rural town, the Flight 93 Ambassadors have greeted more than 750,000 visitors. This year, they are the recipients of the National Park Service’s George B. Hartzog Jr. Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service.
